Kingdom-focused entrepreneurship isn’t about waiting until things are perfect to make an impact.
Others need you NOW. Kingdom-building work isn’t a “wait til later” kind of job.
If you’re serious about showing up for what God has called you to do… you CAN’T let your current situation dictate your actions.
Building God’s Kingdom starts with your CHOICE, not your circumstances.
I met highly successful kingdom-focused entrepreneur, Lia Valencia Key, through Jamie Kern Lima and had the opportunity to interview her on my podcast.
She told a truly moving story about how her mother challenged her to overcome her situation when she was a child living in a homeless shelter. As a fifth grader, she had begun to recognize the negativity she was surrounded by… and she had started letting her situation affect her behavior and choices.
Her mother, seeing how Lia was becoming a product of her predicament, asked her: “Do you want to be a follower or a leader? Right now, you’re following your environment and you will become it. OR you can choose to LEAD your life. It’s your CHOICE.”
It’s not about following or leading others. It’s about CHOOSING to follow where your current life situation is taking you or CHOOSING to lead your life in the direction God has planned for you.
Lia was a child living in a homeless shelter when her mother impressed upon her the power of her choice.
Right now, you have a similar choice. No matter what’s going on in your life, no matter what environment you find yourself in, no matter what obstacles are laying in your path… you have a CHOICE.
God has something more for you. But the choice to listen to His calling is up to you!
Believe and choose are action words. They’re words that require action.
That’s what the Live Out Loud community is built on. The belief that when you truly BELIEVE God’s promises for you and CHOOSE to show up for what He’s called you to… you are compelled to SPEAK OUT and USE your voice!
Live Out Loud isn’t about being loud. It’s about LOUDLY and PROUDLY saying what’s on the inside, even if it’s the opposite of what the world believes or has said about you, because you are COMMITTED to doing the Kingdom-building work God has called you to.
When God puts a calling on our hearts, it’s our responsibility to actually LIVE out what He’s called us to.
But this is where we let our current situation HOLD US BACK from what God is calling us to.
When we believe we’re not ready, when we buy into the lie that we’re not enough… God’s work isn’t done.
His Kingdom here on Earth won’t build itself.
God’s plans require OUR ACTION. It’s not enough to hear and believe… we must step out in faith and DO.
As women, we so often choose to live in a prison of fear or a prison of what others say or have said about us or a prison of what has happened to us.
When we choose to stay inside that prison, we’re never able to leave the legacy we were meant to create.
Live Out Loud is about taking RESPONSIBILITY for our ACTIONS and rising above whatever is in our way so we can do the Kingdom-building work we were put on this earth to do.
Yes, it is your responsibility to CHOOSE to show up for the work God has called you to.
But that does NOT mean it’s easy. Or that you have to make that choice alone.
Humans were created to be in community, and when you find the RIGHT people to support you and hold you accountable, you’ll see how much easier it is to be consistent and make the right choices.
The secret to being a committed, successful, Kingdom-building entrepreneur is being actively plugged into a community that shares your faith and encourages you in everything you do.
Your community will keep you going no matter what you have to step over in the process.
I spent far too much of my life being a people pleaser, trying to explain who I am to the WRONG people. I finally started asking God to send women into my life who I can love the way I’m supposed to love without being questioned.
I didn’t know where these women were, but once God started sending them my way, I realized how powerful our spirit-to-spirit connections were.
When life gets hard, when you start to feel like your situation is defining you… the right community will remind you WHO and WHOSE you are, helping you stay true to the Kingdom-building work you were created to do.
